- Jamie will serve as the team’s official Reserve Driver for the 2026 WEC season, as well as take on more development responsibilities for the GMR-001 Hypercar
Frankfurt, Germany, 18 November 2025: Fresh from her race-winning season in the European Le Mans Series, Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program driver Jamie Chadwick took another step in her journey with the team last month at Circuit Magny-Cours, as she completed her first laps in the GMR-001 Hypercar.
Hypercar test continues rapid progression with Genesis Magma Racing
Jamie’s first laps, which took place during a three-day development test at the French circuit, were the latest step in an intense 10 months since she was named as part of the Genesis Magma Racing Trajectory Program in December 2024. With the team, she has completed her first full season in Prototype Racing, winning three ELMS races alongside Mathys Jaubert and Dani Juncadella, and finishing third in the LMP2 class championship.
She joined her ELMS team-mates – who will be part of Genesis Magma Racing’s driver line-up for the FIA World Endurance Championship next year – as well as André Lotterer and Pipo Derani at the test. After a short initial stint running wet tyres on a drying track, she returned the following day for a longer run in the GMR-001 Hypercar in fully dry conditions.
Chadwick said: “My first laps in the GMR-001 Hypercar were amazing. It’s a really impressive car and so fast in a straight line. There’s a lot of different systems available to you as a driver, tools that you can use to make a difference. Obviously, so much is changing and evolving with every test that the team does, but it’s just a super car to drive, but also just a great team to be part of.”
In joining the test, she became just the second woman to drive a Hypercar class WEC challenger, placing her again among an elite group of female racers in the upper reaches of the sport.
“I think it said everything when I saw her face the first time she jumped out of the car,” said Genesis Magma Racing Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini. “She was very, very happy. I think she enjoyed the laps at Magny-Cours, even it was just a short test.”
First laps prepare Chadwick for Reserve Driver and car development role
Her time in the car heralded the beginning of the next stage of Jamie’s personal trajectory with Genesis Magma Racing. Through the final part of 2025 and during the 2026 season she will take on more responsibility for development work within the team, working in on-track and simulator sessions driving the GMR-001 Hypercar.
Jamie will also become Genesis Magma Racing’s Reserve Driver for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season, alongside her own racing programme, which will be confirmed at a later date.
Tarquini said: “It’s always very good to have feedback from a new driver who doesn’t know the car at all. Jamie has had a fantastic season with our Trajectory Programme in the European Le Mans Series. As a development driver for the GMR-001 Hypercar, she will be a vital part of our team for the future in helping us prepare for events and make the progression we will need during our first season.”
“It’s hugely special to be involved in the development of the GMR-001 Hypercar,” said Chadwick. “It’s another progression in my career and one I’m really proud of. Becoming a Reserve Driver in Hypercar is one step closer to my ultimate goal. The opportunity to test and drive more is something that I’m really looking forward to and a role that I’m going to try to relish and make the most of.”
She added: “The development role can also be a huge help to my racing. Obviously, Hypercar is a step up in terms of everything that you’re learning, but you can still take that back to other categories and series just from the constant testing and working with the engineers.”
