04 December 2024 – The Executive Board (EB) of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is submitting to the IOC Session three amendments to the Olympic Charter reflecting the updated names of three International Sports Federations (IFs). The proposal is based on a recommendation by the IOC Legal Affairs Commission.
The proposed amendments would feature in the list of recognised International Federations (Bye-law to Rule 45.1.4.1) as follows:
- Changing the name of the World Curling Federation (WCF) to World Curling, including dropping the acronym.
- Changing the French name of the International Luge Federation (FIL) to Fédération Internationale de Luge (instead of Fédération Internationale de Luge de Course). The English name and the acronym remain unchanged.
- Changing the name of the International Ski Federation to International Ski and Snowboard Federation. The acronym (FIS) remains unchanged.
The exact wording of the changes can be found here.
These proposed changes to the Olympic Charter will be put to a vote by the 143rd IOC Session in January 2025 in Lausanne, Switzerland.
