Seoul 1988 celebrated in latest Olympic Heritage collection released by Lacoste

02 September 2025 – Lacoste has unveiled a new Olympic Heritage apparel range celebrating the style and spirit of the Olympic Games Seoul 1988.

The unisex collection, which is available now from the Olympic Shop, draws inspiration from the distinctive Korean fashion of the late 1980s and outfits worn at the Games, blending retro influences with modern design elements. The result is a timeless range that honours the heritage of Seoul 1988 while offering a contemporary twist.

At the heart of the collection is a nylon satin bomber jacket, inspired by an iconic style seen in the stands during the Games. Reflecting the trends and aesthetics of Korean fashion at the time, it has been reinterpreted for a modern audience, with two bold graphics on the back that capture the spirit of 1980s design and reflect today’s interest in vintage style.

The collection also features an updated version of Lacoste’s signature polo shirt, crafted in 100 per cent Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS-certified) cotton piqué, with a subtle chest graphic marking Seoul 1988.

The collection is rounded off by an oversize cardigan in recycled cotton, which is a hat-tip to the tennis world and the minimalistic South Korean elegance, as well as the relaxed cargo shorts, offering a trendy and edgy style.

The licensing agreement between the IOC and Lacoste is the result of the IOC’s Global Licensing Strategy – an initiative driven by Olympic Agenda 2020+5 that aims to engage and connect fans through official merchandise that strengthens and promotes the Olympic brand, not only during the Olympic Games, but between Games editions as well.

Alongside the Olympic Heritage Collection, which offers products featuring art and design elements from previous Games, the IOC’s core licensing programmes include The Olympic Collection, which seeks to engage a young and active audience through unique branded products such as apparel, toys and games, bags, stationery items and sports equipment; and the Olympic and Paralympic Games Collections, which celebrate each upcoming edition of the Games, and include a wide range of accessories, souvenirs, fan gear and apparel.

Through the sale of official merchandise, collectables and souvenirs, the Olympic licensing programmes provide fans with a tangible connection to the Olympic Games and the Olympic values. All Olympic merchandising items are available for sale at the Olympic Shop.
