Prime Minister Meloni welcomes IOC President and PresidentElect to Palazzo Chigi

13 June 2025 – On a joint visit to Rome, IOC President Thomas Bach introduced President-elect Kirsty Coventry to the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, at a meeting in the Palazzo Chigi.

Together they discussed the good progress being made with the preparations for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

The President and President-elect both thanked the Prime Minister for her personal and her government’s full commitment to the success of the Games.

With them at the meeting were IOC Member, CONI President and President of the Milano Cortina 2026 Organising Committee Giovanni Malagò, and Organising Committee CEO Andrea Varnier. Sports Minister Andrea Abodi was also present.
