Paris 2024 Official Report celebrates recordbreaking, inclusive Olympic Games and Paralympic Games

28 April 2025 – The Paris 2024 Organising Committee’s Official Report is now available online, detailing a summer of unprecedented celebration, inclusivity and sporting excellence during the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the French capital.

The Report captures how, through its bold “Games Wide Open” vision, Paris 2024 established a new benchmark for future editions, placing sport at the heart of the city and delivering Olympic and Paralympic Games that were both spectacular and sustainable. From beach volleyball beneath the Eiffel Tower to fencing in the Grand Palais, the Games transformed Paris’ iconic landmarks into vibrant arenas, drawing unprecedented crowds and creating lasting memories.

The Games’ record-breaking achievements are also highlighted. Paris 2024 was the first Olympic Games to achieve full gender parity on the field of play, a milestone celebrated through a host of initiatives, including increased mixed-gender events, as well as gender-balanced volunteer and workforce representation. In addition, the innovative ‘Marathon pour Tous’ marked the first time that amateur runners participated in a mass event on the same Olympic course, symbolising Paris 2024’s commitment to inclusivity.

Another important observation in the report is environmental sustainability, a cornerstone of the Paris 2024 strategy, with carbon emissions halved compared to the Olympic Games London 2012 and Rio 2016. The Organising Committee’s approach aligned closely with Olympic Agenda 2020, showcasing a model for delivering impactful, responsible Games that leave a lasting legacy. Notably, the transformation of the former Olympic Village into a new, fully accessible neighbourhood in Seine-Saint-Denis, and the introduction of the “30 minutes of daily exercise” programme in French schools, exemplify this enduring impact.

Among the unforgettable sporting moments highlighted in the report are Léon Marchand’s record-breaking swimming performances, Cassandre Beaugrand’s triathlon triumph in the Seine, and Team France’s emotional victory in blind football at the Paralympic Games. The Games also saw landmark global achievements, from Armand Duplantis’ world record in pole vault to Cuban wrestler Mijain Lopez winning an historic fifth consecutive Olympic gold.

Publishing the Official Report closes an extraordinary chapter for Paris 2024, but signals the beginning of a powerful legacy.

The Games are a relay between host cities, a relay to which each edition adds its own special touch.
