Launch of the 2025/2027 edition of the Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme

26 November 2024 – The IOC Olympic Studies Centre (OSC) has launched a new edition of the Advanced Olympic Research Grant Programme intended for established researchers engaged in Olympic-related research. The main objective of this programme is to promote advanced humanities or social sciences research in priority fields of research identified by the IOC.

For the 2025/2027 edition, the priority fields of research are related to the following main areas:

  • AI and sport
  • Elite youth athletes
  • Esports and e-games
  • Safe sport: athlete safeguarding and (mental) health
  • Sport coaches
  • The contribution of sport and Olympism to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

Who is eligible to apply?

All university professors and researchers who have completed their doctorate and who currently hold an academic/research appointment/affiliation covering the period of the grant. Applicants may apply on an individual basis or as a team.

Rules, application form and deadline for submission

Application files and any related correspondence should be sent to the OSC before 27 January 2025. The programme’s rules, including the list of specific priority fields of research, and the application form are available on our website.

Selection Committee and assessment process

The Grant Programmes Selection Committee is composed of academic experts internationally renowned for their involvement in Olympic studies. Relevant IOC departments and a selection of Peer reviewers are also involved in the selection process.

Postgraduate students enrolled in a PhD degree programme within the human and/or social sciencesand academic staff members and postdoctoral fellows who have completed their doctorate or equivalent highest degree within the past three years are eligible to apply to the PhD Students and Early Career Academics Research Grant Programme.
