Lamborghini announces Luca Engstler as new Factory Driver

German driver joins the Sant’Agata Bolognese firm as an official driver and will contest the full DTM season with TGI Lamborghini Team by GRT in 2025

Sant’Agata Bolognese, 17 February 2025 – Luca Engstler has been unveiled as the newest member of the Lamborghini Squadra Corse factory driver roster and will contest the 2025 DTM campaign with TGI Lamborghini Team by GRT 2025   at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2.

Following a promising year as part of the Lamborghini Young Driver Programme in 2024, during which he claimed two victories in the DTM, the 24-year-old German joins the list of official factory drivers at the Sant’Agata Bolognese company, in the latest step in his burgeoning GT racing career.

Engstler’s road to factory driver status began when he first moved into GT3 competition in 2022, after a hugely successful early career in touring car racing. One of the standout drivers in TCR, Engstler racked up a total of six titles across the Asian, Middle East, Malaysian and German series between 2018 and 2021. Last season, Engstler claimed two victories (in race two at Oschersleben and Hockenheim) at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 entered by Grasser Racing Team, as well as a third-place finish at the Norisring.

In addition to his DTM exploits, Engstler also contested a single round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Sprint Cup, winning the opening race at Hockenheim in the Gold Cup class and finishing sixth overall with team-mate Max Höfer. The pairing took pole position overall for race two and finished third in class. Engstler then rounded out the year with an appearance in the FIA GT World Cup at Macau, but a heavy accident in qualifying ruled him out of the weekend.

Engstler’s first confirmed programme for 2025 takes the German back to the DTM, a championship that Lamborghini won for the first-time last year courtesy of Mirko Bortolotti and SSR Performance. He will be joined at TGI Lamborghini Team by GRT 2025  Racing Team by fellow factory driver Jordan Pepper, who made a guest appearance at the Sachsenring last year in place of the injured Christian Engelhart. The eight-round season kicks off in April at the now traditional venue Oschersleben before heading to Lausitzring, Zandvoort, Norisring, Nürburgring, Sachsenring, Red Bull Ring and Hockenheim.
