26 June 2025 – The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board (EB) today took the decision to reallocate medals, diplomas and medallist pins from the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The official results were changed by the International Federation responsible, World Athletics, following the disqualification of Tatyana TOMASHOVA (RUS – second place) from the London 2012 women’s 1,500m event in athletics, because of an anti-doping rule violation.
World Athletics has modified the results accordingly. Therefore, the new ranking for the athletes placed second to seventh is as follows:
2. Abeba AREGAWI (ETH)
3. Shannon ROWBURY (USA)
4. Lucia KLOCOVA (SVK)
5. Lisa DOBRISKEY (GBR)
6. Laura WEIGHTMAN (GBR)
7. Hellen Onsando OBIRI (KEN)
The reallocation of medals is not automatic and is decided by the IOC on a case-by-case basis. Reallocation takes place only after all the remedies have been exhausted by the sanctioned athletes or teams, and once all procedures have been closed.
The IOC EB also decided to reallocate diplomas in the Paris 2024 Equestrian Team Final. This follows the disqualification of Domien MICHIELS, Team Belgium (fifth place), by the International Equestrian Federation (FEI).
The FEI has modified the results accordingly. Therefore, the new ranking for the teams placed fifth to eighth is as follows:
5. France
6. Sweden
7. Finland
8. Austria
