Today, adidas unveils the Adizero Ubersonic 5 – the latest addition to adidas’ speed-focused tennis franchise. Incorporating best-in-class technical features, yet lightweight and comfortable, the shoe is built to allow athletes to focus on a more intuitive style of play, to meet the demands of the modern game.
Engineered for speed and crafted to support agile movement across court, the new iteration offers fresh functionality and technological updates to the outsole and upper:
- SPEEDFRAME – Appearing for the first time in an adidas Tennis shoe, Speedframe – often found in adidas football and rugby boots – allows players to lock in their heel and mid-foot to support the foot during rapid changes of direction on the court.
- LIGHTSTRIKE MIDSOLE – The low-profile Lightstrike midsole – originally from the record-breaking Adizero running franchise – provides a mix of lightweight cushioning and on-court responsiveness. Following positive athlete feedback on the previous iteration of the Adizero Ubersonic, the midsole has been re-interpreted for a low-to-the-ground feel, enabling players to be more in-tune with the court thanks to a lower centre of gravity.
- MINIMALIST MESH UPPER – The minimalist mesh upper – in an updated half-bootie construction – is lightweight and breathable while offering added comfort for the player.
Ben Herath, VP Design Specialist Sports at adidas, commented: “With this model, we wanted to make a pared-back tennis shoe to really enhance athlete movement on court. Through collaboration with our players, we incorporated their feedback to carefully evolve features from previous models and introduced technology from other sports, never seen before in our tennis shoes. The result is an elite-level shoe fine-tuned for speed.”
Premiering at the first major tournament of the 2025 season, the Adizero Ubersonic 5 will be worn by some of the world’s top players as they look to deliver in the game’s biggest moments. Boasting an energy-charged Lucid Red colorway, the silhouette sports a bold three stripe design down the medial side, with interlocking layering details in the heel.
The Adizero Ubersonic 5 is priced at €150 / $150 and comes in sizes UK 3.5-10 for women and UK 6-15 for men, available to buy at adidas.com and via the adidas app. adidas will unveil different iterations for hardcourt and clay, to help athletes play with freedom, no matter the surface.
