IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva offered best wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year Thursday in Washington, DC (January 19):

“Happy New Year! I would like to extend my warmest greetings to everyone who celebrates this Lunar New Year.

My best wishes to you for the year of the Rabbit. The rabbit embodies calm, peace, prosperity and longevity. And I very much hope this will translate into the world coming together to address our common challenges and put us on a path to prosperity for all.

As I said during my latest trip to China, rowing together and in the same direction is the best way to take our boat out of the choppy waters the world has been experiencing over the last years.

To the people of China, and to our Chinese staff at the Fund, Xin Nian Hao!

I wish you and your loved ones prosperity, health, and happiness in the Year of the Rabbit.

Xie xie!.”
