  • Genesis Art Initiatives will continue its collaboration with leading institutions and cultural visionaries to enrich today’s vibrant cultural dialogue around the globe

Frankfurt, Germany, 8th November 2024: Genesis has announced a new partnership with Tate Modern, one of the world’s leading institutes of modern and contemporary art, for the support of The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Su – Walk the House.

Genesis Art Initiatives was launched to collaborate with leading institutions and visionaries that shape cultural legacy around the world, with a dedication to celebrating art as an authentic experience to discover the truly meaningful and valuable aspects of life.

As part of its vision, Genesis Art Initiatives is expanding its programme to Europe through a collaboration with Tate Modern for a major survey exhibition of Korean artist Do Ho Suh from 1 May to 19 October 2025, marking his first major solo exhibition in London.

A survey exhibition offers a comprehensive examination of a particular artist or movement, featuring a wide range of works and extensive research that spans the artist’s career. By supporting the expansive survey, Genesis aspires to enable a deeper exploration of the artist’s thought-provoking insight that resonates with the complexities of our time.

The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh: Walk the House will present the breadth and depth of Suh’s unique practice over the past three decades, spanning Seoul, New York, and London — the three cities he has called home, and featuring new site-specific works on display for the first time.

The exhibition’s title Walk the House is drawn from the Korean word “hanok” — a house that could theoretically be disassembled, transported, and reassembled at a new site. Reflecting this idea of a transportable home, Suh’s immersive works examine the relationship between architecture, space, the body, and the memories.

We are honoured to embark on Genesis Art Initiatives in Europe through our expanded partnership with Tate, supporting the highly anticipated exhibition by Do Ho Suh,” said Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group. “The Genesis Exhibition: Do Ho Suh – Walk the House takes us on an artistic journey, reaffirming timeless values that transcend both spatial and temporal boundaries through the voice of this renowned visionary.”

I am extremely grateful to Genesis for their generous support of this exhibition. It builds on our longstanding work with Hyundai Motors, who have been invaluable in championing diverse and risk-taking contemporary art at Tate, supporting curatorial research alongside major commissions,” said Maria Balshaw, Director at Tate. “I’m thrilled to see this commitment continue to grow through Genesis Art Initiatives and Do Ho Suh’s profound reflections on our modern world are the perfect way to begin our new partnership.”

Last July, Genesis Art Initiatives announced a five-year partnership with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to support The Genesis Facade Commission, an annual contemporary art commission series for the Museum’s Fifth Avenue facade niches. The inaugural exhibition under this partnership, The Genesis Facade Commission: Lee Bul, Long Tail Halo, opened this in September and can be viewed until 27th May 2025.
