Christmas season officially kick-offs on November 21-23 with annual Holiday Lighting Weekend
MEMPHIS, Tenn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#Christmas—Elvis Presley’s Graceland will celebrate the holiday season this year with Christmas tours, live concerts, the one-year anniversary of the opening of the Enesco Gallery and Gift Shop (home to the world’s largest collection of Department 56 villages), and more. Holiday festivities begin with the annual Holiday Lighting Weekend November 21-23 and continue through Elvis’ Birthday on January 8.
Each year, Elvis Presley’s Graceland celebrates the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll’s love of the holiday season by continuing his tradition of decorating Graceland’s lawn with hundreds of blue Christmas lights, a life-size nativity scene, Santa and his reindeer, and more. The interior of Graceland is filled with seasonal décor that includes Elvis’ traditional red velvet drapes, multiple Christmas trees, and artifacts from Presley family Christmases past.
Guests who visit November 21 through December 23 will be able to enjoy limited-time afternoon Graceland Christmas tours featuring live tour guides sharing holiday stories of what it was like to spend Christmas with the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. On select nights during the season, Graceland will also offer evening Christmas Ultimate VIP Tours for guests who desire an elevated, small group experience with a personal tour guide and special photo ops.
Holiday Lighting Weekend on November 21-23 is the official kick-off to the season with three days of live concerts, festive events, and our official lighting ceremony. On November 21 at 6:00 pm, Graceland invites the public to join Elvis’ close friend Jerry Schilling at the annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony. Jerry will “flip the switch” on Elvis’ holiday lights and decorations, officially starting the holiday season at Graceland. For those who can’t attend in person, the ceremony will be livestreamed.
Following the lighting ceremony, Santa will be available for photos at the Enesco Gallery and Gift Shop featuring Department 56, located on the Graceland campus. The gallery’s collection is a winter wonderland that leads visitors on a nostalgic trip through the collectibles inspired by their favorite movies, music, books and comics from 1976 through today.
Additional weekend festivities include a Christmas Candlelit Concert at Graceland’s Chapel in the Woods, a Jingle Bell Brunch featuring music from The Paiges, an Archives Show and Tell featuring artifacts from Graceland’s new Christmas book and two live Christmas concerts at Graceland Soundstage. On Friday, November 22, it is A Rockin’ Memphis Christmas concert featuring holiday and rockabilly hits inspired by Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley. Then, on Saturday, November 23, Dean Z will take the stage with his high-energy Ultimate Elvis Christmas show featuring the best of Elvis’ hits and Christmas classics. Plus, exclusive to Holiday Lighting Weekend there will be a special guest joining all of the new Presley for a Day tours!
